Don't Talk Trash to the Leader of the Free World?

Sometimes, you just can't let things go.  So when I saw a link to a piece about Michael Jordan talking trash to Bill Clinton, I had to check it out.

I have to admit, the piece confused me.  It is common knowledge that MJ is prideful and ultra-competitive.  However, to suggest that challenging Bubba to play at the pro tees instead of the "little girls" (white) tees is anything other than testosterone induced gamesmanship, is crazy.  It is fairly obvious that this is either an attack on such gamesmanship because the author strongly dislikes MJ or is a card carrying member of that segment of society that believes boys should not be boys.

Any Regular Bro knows that two males given a hunk of wadded up paper, a waste receptacle, and enough time can entertain themselves for countless hours.  Additionally, it is a foregone conclusion that at some point at least one of said males will question the manhood of the other.  It is the norm, or at least it used to be.  It is embodied in the drive that made MJ, Patton, and even Alexander (among others) great.

I think humility does have its place.  There is no honor in talking trash someone who has just lost a job, or has a sick spouse or child, for example.  You talk trash when you are participating in an activity that really has no importance beyond its entertainment value.

If Bubba and I ever got to spend some free time together, I guarantee we wouldn't be talking politics.  I'd be looking for some entertaining venture, and whipping out my best trash talk.  I think that reminding Bubba that he is no longer the leader of the free world might be a good place to start.

Regular Bro Moment Of The Year Nominee

My Dad told me a story some time back about some PETA activists who decided to protest an annual gopher shoot in South Dakota.  The local nightly news offered them an opportunity to urge others to join them in the protest the night before the event.  However, the next morning the zeal of the half dozen protestors dampened as score after score of shooters exited their vehicles and started loading their weapons of choice in what was an extremely well attended event that year.  I understand that the PETArists left the scene before a shot was fired.

Understand that the protestors were in no danger of getting shot unless they had donned gopher costumes and started popping out of burrows.  Rather, this was a show of solidarity by the people, for the people.

My son Stumbled Upon a blog post on MADMIKESAMERICA about an event that I somehow missed.  Apparently the Westboro Baptist Church (yes, those wackos from Kansas)  had gathered to protest at the funeral for a local fallen Marine Staff Sergeant in Brandon, Mississippi.  I admit that living in Tennessee I do occasionally give Mississippians a hard time, but I have to give it to the Bros and Sisters in Mississippi for neutralizing this protest.  I only wish I could have been there.  It is a tale about people standing together in an America where people understand what makes this country great.

Brandon, Mississippi, this Bro's for you!

Normandy Remembered

A great unscripted moment about a generation we should never forget.

If True...LAME!

Sylvester Stallone has been set for sometime for a new film called Headshot. He'd play an assassin who makes an unwilling and uneasy alliance with a cop - each wants to track down the people responsible for killing their partners.

It's designed to be a throwback to Lethal Weapon, 80's style, buddy action flicks. It's gonna be directed by Walter Hill, who brought us 48 Hrs.

Stallone and Hill
Not too long ago it was reported that Thomas Jane, probably most well known for roles in The Punisher and Deep Blue Sea, had been cast as the cop.

Jane as The Punisher
But apparently he may not be right for the part. Apparently he's too...white.

You see, according to this scoop, since Warner Bros.' Dark Castle banner got involved, they want "Jane replaced with someone more “ethnic” in order to meet an in-house formula-for-success." Jane is still the preferred choice of Hill and Stallone.

Is this not racism, bros? Would it be better for the studio if Jane grew a handlebar mustache, wore a sombrero and strapped on a bandolero?

Neither Rain, Nor Sleet, Nor...Nevermind

This story...you just have to read it to believe it. But I'll live you with a pic and my personal favorite quote:
"To come on to our property and to defecate - it's just wrong."

Who Said That?

You've probably already heard about the broo-ha-ha over Ed Schultz calling Laura Ingraham - I don't even remember what, specifically - a conservative slut? Real creative, Ed.

So I could write a lengthy diatribe about how this confirms what I like to call liberal hate, something I talked about in a recent post.

But I'm not going to.

What strikes me most about this is that when people were sitting in front of their morning show of choice this morning with their bagel and their coffee and heard about this story, likely their first that was:

"Who the hell is Ed Schultz?"

Arab Spring

Actually, it smells like...
